Photovoltaic Solar Energy in Spain

Gradually the number of households generating their own energy is increasing every year, and as this process becomes more widespread, we will make a significant contribution to curbing climate change by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Bear in mind that solar energy is inexhaustible, clean and, best of all, 100% sustainable. Therefore, investing in self-generating energy through the installation of photovoltaic panels, is an investment in the planet and, believe it or not, it can be achieved at no additional cost to the one you currently have on your electricity bill.

There are two types of photovoltaic installations for homes and small businesses: Grid Connected Installations and Isolated Installations. In article 3 of Royal Decree 244/2019, of April 5th, they are defined as follows:

Grid Connected Installations

With your installation you produce your own energy by means of photovoltaic panels, but you are still connected to the grid, so that the excess electricity produced is fed back into the grid. The companies compensate this energy produced with your night power consumption.

Isolated Installations

This situation is envisaged for houses or agricultural facilities that do not have the possibility to connect to the grid. They require a battery installation, in order to store the excess electricity produced and to be able to use it at night or on cloudy days.

These are the two types of installations to produce solar energy

Self consumption installations and, what is called a solar farms 

The are two main differences among them, first is the investment required, and secondly both systems have a complete different regulation. Obviously, the solar farms refulation is way more complex.
